Walnut & Poplar Shawl Pin

Walnut wood is a hard, strong, dark wood. When I was a girl, I loved finding the bright green tennis ball-sized black walnut fruit that fell in our yard in late summer each year. I can still smell the pungent aroma and the juice that stained my fingers brown as I peeled back the pulp in search of the walnut shells encasing the nuts, so familiar to holiday nutcrackers.

Completely unique and one-of-a-kind, this shawl pin is Edmonton made, through and through. The elm and lilac wood were grown here. The craftsmanship that made them into the aperture and pin happened here.
