Pristine, naked and a gorgeous coffee bean brown, this huacaya alpaca roving is a spinner's dream, due to its long staple length and perfect preparation, done by the farmer who raises the alpacas.
Use the spun yarn for next-to-skin projects, such as hats, scarves, shawls or sweaters. It creates a naturally multicoloured, deeply rich felt, and, of course, its texture adds dimension with artistic weaving, although the delicate nature of the roving requires skill to keep in intact during weaving.
Sourced from local Alberta alpacas (I personally helped with shearing this fleece!) and milled on the farm, this fibre is undyed, and untreated. This gorgeous fibre can be used as-is, or dyed, although I have found that only deep jewel tones show up, and those only faintly, due to the richness of the natural pigment present.
