This merino/silk chunky yarn is luxury defined. It's lustrous, deliciously soft. Both merino and silk are thermoregulators, which means they wear warmly in winter's cold and transition easily to indoor wear. Fresh off the wheel, this yarn is dyed in the process of setting the twist. The washable merino component absorbs dye quickly, while the silk component requires longer time in the dye pot, but yields richly saturated, glistening colours.
Grey | Prairie Storm: There's no colour quite like the stormy sky of a prairie summer. Its intensity is riveting. I created this colour using a combination of dyes, and purposely leaving the strands of yarn close together to impede even saturation of the colour. This allows the natural white of the fibre to peek through at random, yielding a fabric that reflects the highlights and shadows of the stormy clouds that inspired this colour way.
Grey & Peach | Stormy Sunset: This colour way is created by using an intentional resist in dyeing the Prairie Storm colour, and then dyeing that section in a clear, gentle shell peach. The Alberta sky is magnificent as the sun sets on the heels of a summer storm. The clouds that were so dark and electric become opalescent, glowing around the edges even while dark at the centre.
Grey & White | Cumulus Cloud: Clean white, punctuated with gentle grey, like the white billows atop grey bases of cumulus clouds that float lazily across the clear blue prairie summer sky.
