Lake McDonald in West Glacier, Montana, is magical, and it just had to be included in the Water Element in the Elements Collection. Its decadent blue is enchanting.

:: 4 oz.

:: Milled worsted top

:: All fibre bases are delightful as spinning fibre

:: BFL and untreated merino are beautiful felting fibre. Superwash treatment is meant to prevent felting, so the merino/tencel and merino/silk blends are not a good fit for felting.

I've dyed several fibre bases with this colour recipe, with fascinating results.

- BFL allows the dye to swirl for longer in the water, yielding a smooth variation in colour and saturation.

- Untreated merino takes the dye more quickly than BFL, yielding spots of pastel and spots of more intense colour. The varied blue shades I used to create this colour are more distinct, as well.

- Superwash treated merino blended with silk takes up the navy blue quickly, leaving the other shades to slowly deposit. This yields patches of blue interspersed with pastel periwinkle and white.

- Superwash treated merino blended with tencel yields a uniform, deeply saturated wool, while the tencel rejects the dye completely, remaining a glistening white.

Each of these fibres is sourced from a Canadian mill, and dyed in my Edmonton home studio space. Find out more about my work by visiting falseholly.com

The Lake McDonald Blue Spinning or Felting Fibre is a sensational customer favorite, and we hope you like it just as much.
